We are Socitm Advisory - the management consulting business for the public sector.

Our digital, data and change consultant roles are integral positions in our consulting structure and service offering where you will enjoy a variety of interesting work as a Business Analyst working on the latest digital and change problems to solve.

As a member of the programme/project team servicing our public sector clients, you will enjoy working with several customers on a variety of different technology and business process change engagements, typically undertaking discovery exercises where you help us, and the end-client, understand their business needs, before working on the solutions utilising innovative technology and digital products.

Key responsibilities

  • Requirements gathering: facilitating workshops and carrying out interviews to gather technical requirements
     

  • Process modelling: employing a range of tools and techniques to articulate the 'as is' and 'to be' technical processes
     

  • Technical documentation: producing high-quality documentation for captured requirements and your recommendations for client sign off
     

  • System gap analysis: evaluate technical requirements against the "present state" (where we are) and "target state" (where we want to be) and identify opportunities to develop successful technical requirements
     

  • Traceability: ensuring that technical requirements are measured through robust acceptance criteria

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience as a Management Consultant or IT Business Analyst with responsibility for inputting into technology services, or experiences as a Systems Analyst or Junior IT Analyst, or similar role
     

  • Qualification in business analysis is desirable or working towards industry recognised certification e.g. BCS Foundation Certificate in Systems Development, BCS Business Analyst, or equivalent
     

  • Track record of designing and improving technology services and/or products - most importantly you are able to articulate how you go about the process of delivering this and are proud of where you have made a positive difference
     

  • Experience working in an agile environment and good working understanding of agile methodologies with the ability to adapt the principles to apply in practice
     

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, able to interact with stakeholders at all levels and in a variety of styles
     

  • Able to ingest large amounts of information and pick out the pertinent points quickly and succinctly
     

  • A real passion to keep yourself abreast of developments in technology and digital transformation
     

  • Strategic thinker - able to 'join the dotes' and consider the big picture while focusing in on the problem to be solved
     

  • Experience working within or win the local government, housing or central government sectors is highly desirable, but we will consider candidates that have other public sector or consulting experience
     

  • Stakeholder management and engagement - engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of technical requirements, including third parties, to determine technical requirements for solution adoption 
     

  • Experience in working with relative autonomy, including effective personal and time management
     

  • Experience in writing reports or business cases
