We are Socitm Advisory - the management consulting business for the public sector.

We are very well established supporting local government as a consulting organisation with particular strengths in the effective use of technology and in the achievement of benefits through business process change and transformation.

As a result of our continued growth, achieved through winning and delivering multiple programmes across the UK, we now have an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic project manager who will be deployed across our local government customer Oracle ERP programmes, responsible for delivering project target business outcomes to time and in budget.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • ACA, ACCA, CCAB (or CIMA) qualification

  • Strong technical accounting skills and a knowledge of accounting in a local government environment, as well as financial analysis, information technology, and report writing skills

  • Understanding of the management of project and programme finances

  • Experience either having worked within a Management Consultancy or directly with(in) local government

  • Exceptional communication skills and enthusiasm to drive to succeed

  • Enjoy working in an open and collaborative environment, supporting all areas of the business where you can add value

Key responsibilities

  • Helping to develop and maintain the change plan for the project and provide input into the overall project plan as required

  • Effectively plan and model demand and cost, track the financial delivery of project and programme activity

  • Engage and manage project stakeholders and build buy-in and support within the business community to drive the project forward

  • Develop the benefits realisation plan working in partnership with the Project Lead and stakeholders as part of all business change activities

  • Facilitate a collaborative team working environment between the client (business and core programme team) and supplier throughout the project

  • Manage the client and supplier project deliverables and obligations to ensure effective delivery of the plan

  • Ensure a common understanding across all key stakeholders of the project's critical path and key decision points

  • Create and maintain the workstream project plan, review and approve key project deliverables. Ensure that issues are properly recorded and managed, and monitor risks and recommend mitigating actions

  • Ensure project benefits are identified and captured for ongoing tracking

  • Ensure compliance to agreed quality regime and standards
